The Chinese Communist Party has just cemented President Xi Jinping’s place in the nation’s political history, passing a “historical resolution”
The document is a summary of the party’s 100-year legacy, which addresses its key achievements and future goals and direction.
This summary is just the third of its kind to be passed, with the first dating back to the rule of Mao in 1945 and the following passed under the rule of Deng.
The move ensures Xi Jinping’s leadership is cemented in history, and will signify that he is an equal party founder alongside Mao and Deng.
This historical resolution was passed during the first major meeting of party leaders ahead of the national congress next year, where Xi is expected to seek a third term as president.
