How will the Incognito lawsuit against Google effect your data?

Google has reached a settlement in a lawsuit alleging the clandestine tracking of internet usage by users who believed they were browsing privately.

The terms of the settlement, filed in Oakland, California federal court, await approval from U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers.

Although Google will pay no damages upfront, the agreement mandates the destruction of billions of data records.

Estimated to be worth between $5 billion to $7.8 billion by plaintiffs’ lawyers, the settlement allows individual users to pursue damages through separate lawsuits against the tech giant.

This settlement underscores the growing concerns over online privacy and the accountability of major tech companies.
