“Get to shelter now” – Hurricane Ian approaches Florida

Tropical Storm Ian is strengthening into a Category 2 hurricane , prompting authorities in Florida to urge residents to make preparations for the storm.

Ian is forecast to move northwest through the Caribbean, near Cuba and the Cayman Islands, before reaching Florida’s west coast by Wednesday.

The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for parts of Florida, including the Keys, and is advising people in the affected areas to monitor the storm’s progress.

Ian is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to Florida, which could lead to flooding and power outages.

Residents are being advised to stock up on supplies, including food, water, and medicine, and to have a plan in place in case they need to evacuate.

Florida will be activating unvaccinated servicemen and women in response to Hurricane Ian.
