Revolutionary French film director, Jean-Luc Godard has died at the age of 91
Godard’s career took off in the 1960s with his flick ‘Breathless’ rewriting the rules of cinema. He influenced fellow directors including Martin Scorsese to Quentin Tarantino.
The family say he died peacefully by assisted suicide in Switzerland.
His legal advisor says the voluntary departure followed ‘multiple illnesses’.

French President Emmanuel Macron says Godard “had the vision of a genius” and he became a master of French cinema.
RIP Jean-Luc Godard, one of the most influential, iconoclastic film-makers of them all. It was ironic that he himself revered the Hollywood studio film-making system, as perhaps no other director inspired as many people to just pick up a camera and start shooting… pic.twitter.com/KFOnnQ1H6n
