A French beauty brand has copped criticism for choosing to stay in Russia, despite the Kremlin’s invasion of neighbouring Ukraine

French beauty brand L’occitane is set to keep its stores in Russia open – despite what’s going on in Ukraine.

The firm has been criticised for remaining in Russia and not taking a stance against the Kremlin.

Reports stated that L’Occitane discussed closing its stores “at length” but has chosen to remain open to protect staff as well as save their jobs.

Hundreds of international brands including L’Oreal and Estee Lauder have already closed shops and ceased online sales in Russia in protest of the war.

This week, telecom giant Nokia became one of the latest well known organisations to leave Russia, impacting the jobs of around 2,000 workers.

The Nokia CEO stated that business in the country will be suspended indefinitely.

L’occitane says while it condemns what is happening in Ukraine it has chosen to stop investing in Russia, instead of shutting stores.
