A former Qatari Princess, Kasia Gallanio, has been found dead in Spain, from an alleged drug overdose, aged 45

According to Spanish newspapers, police officers discovered the body of Kasia Gallanio in a bed, with no signs of physical violence.

She had recently been denied custody of her daughters and was living in Spain.

Gallanio had allegedly been battling problems with alcoholism and depression.

She was also fighting an ugly custody battle with her former husband and Qatari Prince Abdelaziz Khalifa Al Thani.

73-year-old Al-Thani is a former Qatari oil and finance minister and uncle of the Emir of Qatar. His father rules the Gulf state for over 20 years. Al-Thani was exiled in 1995 following a coup, where he relocated to Paris.

Gallanio met the Prince in Paris, and the couple later married and had three daughters together. After separating, the couple endured a decade-long ugly custody battle.

Gallanio relocated to Marbella, Spain where she continued to fight for sole custody of the children.

However, in 2018 she lost custody of the children amid a deteriorating battle with alcohol and depression.

Gallanio’s death comes shortly after she publicly accused Al Thani of sexually abusing one of their three daughters.

According to French Newspapers, one of the daughters filed a complaint accusing her father of forcing her to sleep in his bed and touching her chest and buttocks between the ages of 9 and 15.

Gallanio gave an interview to Women’s World TV saying, ‘It’s time to speak up. It’s time to let people know that it’s not all glamour and perfect.

‘I do also struggle and I go through things, and it’s been difficult. Not just for me hut for the children.’

A police investigation was launched into the serious allegations but the 73-year-old billionaire continues to deny any wrongdoing.

Further investigations are underway as well as an autopsy of Gallanio’s body.
