Explosions rock Kyiv after Russian rocket is shot down

Strong explosions have been heard in the capital of Ukraine on Thursday

At least four explosions have been reported in Ukraine’s capital city, where it is in the early hours of Thursday.

Two powerful blasts reportedly went off in the city centre, followed by two more near a metro station.

Air raid sirens have been heard wailing.

The Twitter account of OSINTtechnical, which shares open source intelligence, released a video of one explosion.

As a CBS international reporter was coming off air, the blasts we’re captured.

This follows a Russian rocket, allegedly targeting the Ministry of Defense, was shot down by an air defence system, and its wreckage fell near Kyiv’s main train station.

Ukrainian media reports that a large heating main was torn apart near the railway station in Kyiv, which could leave areas in the capital without heating.

On Twitter, Journalist, Bill Froehlich, said Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office informed The Associated Press that it was a missile strike.

The number of casualties from the blast is not yet known.

For the past few days, videos of the Kyiv railway station are spreading on social networks.

The state railway company says thousands of women and children are attempting to flee the conflict.
