The U.S. Military is reporting a 13 per cent spike in the number of sexual assaults last year

As bases and public venues opened after the pandemic, the Associated Press reports 36-thousand service members had experienced unwanted sexual assault.

The U.S. Army had the highest figure, with its largest increase in assaults in nearly a decade.

These latest figures are set to raise concerns at Capitol Hill, as the Pentagon struggles to stamp out this negative culture of abuse.

U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin has perviously said the Pentagon’s strategy is not working.

As part of his role, Austin ordered a review of how these cases are handled.

Some of the changes include revisions to how the crimes are prosecuted.
