The White House is urging Canada to use its federal powers to end the ongoing border blockade

This comes as fresh fears the disruptions may impact the Super Bowl

The US Department of Homeland Security says a similar protest could start in California, before stretching to the nation’s capital.

The Super Bowl is scheduled for Sunday 13 February in Los Angeles.

In a security bulletin, the department says it has received reports truck drivers are planning to block roads in major US cities, in protest of vaccine mandates.

It warns action could continue until mid-March, threatening both the Super Bowl and President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on March 1.

If this does occur, there are fears the convoy will “severely disrupt transportation” across the US.

Canada’s protests are in response to a new vaccine mandate for truckers crossing the US-Canada border, requiring them to be vaccinated against Covid or quarantine for 14 days upon entry.
