Former teacher and rugby player Chris Dawson has received threats in prison, since he was found guilty of murdering his wife
Chris Dawson has been convicted of murdering his wife, Lynette Dawson, in 1982.
His lawyer, Greg Walsh, told Judge Ian Harrison that his client has since been exposed to “constant threats” on his life, from a large group of people.
Justice Harrison responded, saying he will make an effort to recommend Corrective Services take action to protect Dawson.
Justice Harrison assured Walsh that his client is entitled to seek medical assistance and any physical protection he may require.
Outside the court, Walsh again confirmed that Dawson had been exposed to threats from prisoners.
The 74-year-old has been in custody since the verdict, and now awaits sentencing on November 11.
Dawson has consistently proclaimed his innocence, and denies any involvement in his wife’s disappearance.
