In Washington, a show of respect from the top for Queen Elizabeth II, as Congress stands in silence
U.S. Congress and all staff throughout the Capitol building observed a moment of silence for the Queen.
Standing in solidarity, leaders from both sides of the aisle put their differences aside to honour Her Majesty.
A feeling they all have in common.
The lower chamber passed a grief resolution in tribute of the Queen, and postponed duties for the day.
Notably, Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke highly of the Monarch saying she was “was a pillar of leadership in the global arena and a devoted friend of freedom”.
