Climate warnings falling on deaf ears as top scientists say there’s still hope

Scientists respond to the latest UN Climate Report

Following the release of the United Nations’ latest climate report, scientists fear their warnings are falling on deaf ears as the war in Ukraine continues.

Putin’s invasion has led to international turmoil and soaring energy prices, as governments work to alleviate pressure on the everyday consumer in any way they can.

Now when it comes to the climate crisis there is hope. The world’s top climate scientists believe we can prevent the worst impacts of global warming if we act now. But the clock is ticking.

So what needs to change?

There needs to be “rapid, deep and immediate” cuts in carbon dioxide emissions, with global emissions peaking within three years before quickly declining.

In addition to this, the report says we will need to rely on carbon capture technology to suck excess CO2 from the skies.

The next few years are particularly critical, and if we don’t do enough by 2030, it will make it almost impossible to limit warming to under 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Renewables will also be crucial in this battle, but luckily solar panels and wind turbines have never been cheaper, falling in cost by around 85% over the past decade.
