China has conducted further military drills around the disputed region following the arrival of further U.S. leaders to Taipei

Beijing ordered combat alert patrols and military drills in both the air and sea.

Yi of the Eastern Theatre Command says the drills are a solemn response to political plays by the U.S and Taiwan, which are “undermining the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait’.

Taiwan has since confirmed 30 Chinese People’s Liberation Army warplanes and five vessels were detected on Monday.

The U.S. delegation arrived in the region’s capital on Sunday for an unannounced two-day visit, following House Speaker Pelosi’s visit earlier in August.

Following Pelosi’s tour, China pledged to “regularly conduct” more patrols in the Taiwan Strait.
