China is demanding answers after a US nuclear-powered submarine sustaining damage in the disputed South China Sea

China has demanded answers after a US nuclear submarine accident in the South China Sea, last week.

China says the the lack of information about the incident is “irresponsible” and has expressing serious concerns about any “nuclear leak”.

The nation’s Foreign Ministry says the U-S should clarify more details about the location, and what kind of object it had struck.

Several sailors were injured when the submarine collided with an unknown object while submerged in the South China Sea.

The US Pacific Fleet says the submarine is in “safe and stable condition” and none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Analysts continue to warn the complex underwater terrain and nuclear submarine arms race places increased risk of accidents in the region.
