Williams is the transport and mobility pillar champion on the Lord Mayor’s City of Brisbane Legacy Committee.
The legacy plan was developed through extensive public and industry consultation, engaging tens of thousands.
Key organisations managing preparation for the event include the Brisbane 2032 Organizing Committee, which collaborates with the IOC, manages volunteers, and oversees branding and procurement.
The Independent Infrastructure Coordination Authority is responsible for delivering the 17 event venues, coordinating with builders, engineers, and architects.
Support from the State Government (State Development) and various local governments along the coast is essential for the statewide nature of the games.
With only six years until the games, Brisbane faces challenges in addressing competing funding and development priorities alongside housing and healthcare needs.
To address housing demands, Brisbane is utilising well-located inner-city precincts with existing transport and collaborating with surrounding regional councils, such as Ipswich, Logan, and Moreton, to leverage zoned land for lower-density housing.
