In a major development coming out of the US, President Biden says he has been briefed on Russia’s attempts to spread misinformation about the upcoming 2022 elections

During a speech with the Director of National Intelligence, Biden warned that the Kremlin is violating America’s sovereignty.

Biden said: “Look at what Russia’s doing already about the 2022 election and misinformation.”

He says the intelligence community needs to “take on the rampant disinformation that is making it harder and harder for people to assess the facts, and be able to make decisions”.

Biden also referenced Russia’s weakening economy and warned that this means Putin is more dangerous in the cyber realm.

He said he believes it is growing more likely the United States could “end up in a real shooting war with a major power,” as the consequence of a cyber breach.

Following this, the President also warned that if the United States ever engages in a war again, it will be the result of a cyber attack.
