Australian golfer Minjee Lee has won the U.S. Women’s Golf Open to secure a 2.5 million dollar pay day
Lee says the tournament is one she ‘always wanted to win’ serving as the golfer’s second major championship victory after also winning at The Evian in 2021.
Securing an even-par of 71, the Australian’s lead was never threatened, but she came into the final round needing to conquer the course’s hardest conditions.
Largely speechless at the conclusion of the event, Lee says it’s both ‘super special’ and ‘a great honour’.
Lee now has her sights on the world No.1 ranking for the first time, with the win also earning her a 10-year exemption into the U.S. Open and a five-year exemption into every other major.
