An emergency cabinet meeting has been held in Australia’s Federal Parliament

The nation’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison held an emergency meeting this evening. He said the National Cabinet agreed to mandate vaccinations for all aged care workers, meaning workers will need at least one dose by mid-September this year.

The PM stated there will be mandatory vaccines for people transporting airline workers.

Mr Morrison said the Cabinet has also agreed to mandate post-quarantine testing for returned travellers and their close contacts, stating this will happen 2-3 days following quarantine.

Morrison, who is right now in isolation himself, said the Cabinet has agreed on a new no-fault indemnity scheme for GPs to give the AstraZeneca vaccine to Australians under the age of 60, who are willing to accept the extremely rare blood clot risk. Basically, anyone can now go to their GP and get the vaccine after a discussion.

Multiple states and territories are on high alert as Covid-19 cases emerge across the country, with cases popping up in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Darwin.  This has prompted multiple states to introduce restrictions and slam their borders shut.
