An armed man has tried to breach the FBI building in Cincinnati, with authorities using gunfire to deter him

Gunfire has been exchanged in Ohio as law enforcement chased a suspect who tried to breach an FBI building.

The armed man was reportedly wearing armour when he tried to break through a screening area at the Cincinnati building.

He then fled the scene but was injured as a confrontation with authorities took place.

“Law enforcement has traded shots with a male suspect who is wearing a grey shirt and body armour.”

The confrontation occurred when a a state trooper found the man’s vehicle in nearby county, and gunfire was exchanged.

Several highways in the nearby area were closed off during the standoff.

Officials have been warning of increased threats because of this week’s raids at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Estate.

“Violence against law enforcement is not the answer, no matter who you’re upset with,” said the FBI’s Director Christopher Wray.
