Amazon is weeks into negotiations on a deal to acquire MGM for around $9 billion

Amazon has announced they plan to buy MGM film library.

They expressed particular interest in several major franchises including James Bond, Rocky and the Pink Panther.

MGM also owns the Epix cable channel and makes several US TV shows, including The Handmaid’s Tale and Survivor.

Amazon CEO recently told investors that 175 million people streamed the company’s Prime Video service in the past year alone. Around 200 million members subscribe to the streaming platform.
