Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin says this shooting shows America must address its gun violence.
Multiple people were also injured due to the shooting.
A local hospital said three victims from an active shooting scene are being treated at a trauma centre.
Local police confirmedt hat the suspect had been taken into custody.
Witnesses described the gunman as a white male, possibly a teenager, who was dressed in camo and armed with a long barrel shotgun.
