Kensington Palace refuses to comment over Photoshop fail

A heartwarming Mother’s Day picture featuring Kate Middleton and her three children has stirred a storm of controversy.

The image, released by Kensington Palace, marks Kate’s first public appearance since undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

However, it has now been withdrawn by major foreign picture agencies, including Reuters, AP, Getty, and AFP, citing potential digital manipulation.

While Kensington Palace stands by the authenticity of the photo, concerns over potential alterations have prompted its removal from circulation.

AP issued an alert requesting the removal of the image, stating that upon closer inspection, it appeared to have been manipulated. Similar demands were echoed by other agencies, citing editorial reasons.

Editorial issue

AFP issued a directive for the immediate withdrawal of the photo, indicating an editorial issue.

Reuters also stated that the picture was being pulled following a post-publication review.

The move comes amid growing concerns within the news industry regarding the manipulation of photographs using AI technology, although specific details regarding the alterations remain unclear.

Notably, observers pointed out apparent digital alterations in the image, including discrepancies in Princess Charlotte’s wrist and clothing, as well as anomalies in the background scenery.

Photoshop fail

This controversy follows previous scrutiny over the Wales family’s Christmas card, which was criticised for a supposed “Photoshop fail.”

Kensington Palace has refrained from commenting on the matter, further fueling speculation surrounding the princess’s health.

The photo, originally shared on social media channels, was reportedly taken by Prince William earlier in the week at their Windsor home.

Amidst the controversy, the absence of significant updates regarding Kate’s condition from Kensington Palace has drawn criticism.

Apple is making a bold move into AI-powered wearables, developing three innovative devices designed to bring ambient computing to everyday life. From smart glasses to a futuristic pendant and camera-equipped AirPods, the tech giant is integrating these devices with an upgraded version of Siri to enhance user experience.

The smart glasses, slated for a 2027 launch, will feature dual cameras and rely heavily on voice interactions, aiming to compete directly with Meta’s leading smart glasses in the market. Meanwhile, the AI pendant is still in early development but promises to be a companion device for iPhone users.

Camera-equipped AirPods could arrive as early as this year, capturing environmental data to feed Apple’s growing AI ecosystem. With Meta’s smart glasses already dominating sales, Apple’s entry signals a fierce battle in wearable AI technology.

Apple launches new video podcast experience with adaptive playback, dynamic ads, and free for creators.

Apple is stepping up its podcast game with a new integrated video experience launching this spring. The update will allow users to seamlessly switch between watching and listening, complete with picture-in-picture mode for uninterrupted multitasking.

The update also supports HLS for adaptive video playback and dynamic ad insertion, giving advertisers more flexibility while keeping distribution free for creators. This positions Apple Podcasts to better compete with Spotify, YouTube, and Netflix in the growing video podcast market.

As video podcasts gain traction worldwide, Apple aims to capture viewers who want a more interactive experience without paying creators fees, while ad networks benefit from expanded opportunities.
