Matthew Perry backtracks, apologises to Keanu Reeves

Published

on

Matthew Perry has been criticised for his comments about Keanu Reeves in his new autobiography.

In the book, Perry takes aim at Reeves and other actors who have died young.

Perry wrote in his book Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing: “River was a beautiful man inside and out and too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down.”

Later on, he name-dropped Reeves again as he discussed the death of Heath Ledger.

Reeves has not responded to Perry’s comments.

However, many people have taken to social media to criticise the Friends star.

One person tweeted: “Matthew Perry should delete his Twitter account.” Another said: “I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say anything negative about Keanu Reeves.”

Apology

But now, after his words were picked up and raised a few eyebrows, Matthew issued an apologetic statement to Deadline.

He said: “I’m actually a big fan of Keanu. I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologise. I should have used my own name instead.”
