Former Fox News editor slams network for coverage of Trump

Published

A former Fox News politics editor has slammed his old workplace, saying the news network stoked ‘paranoia and hatred’ during its 2020 Presidential election coverage.

Chris Stirewalt was forced out of the conservative broadcaster, and believes Fox News failed its viewers when Trump lost.

Chris Stirewalt is convinced Fox fired him because of his decision to declare Joe Biden the winner of Arizona on the same night polls closed.

But Fox denies these claims… saying the former political editor’s departure was simply a layoff amid broader company restructuring.

The Arizona call infuriated Trump, prompting the former President to mount a campaign aimed at getting the network to retract the decision.

The New York Times obtained and reported on an advance copy of the book.

It also stoked lies among Trump supporters that Biden was stealing the election.

“Even in the four years since the previous presidential election, Fox viewers had become even more accustomed to flattery and less willing to hear news that challenged their expectation,” Stirewalt’s memoir adds.

That was even the case when viewers’ expectations amounted to “black-helicopter-level paranoia and hatred”, according to the memoir.

In a statement, Fox says ” Chris Stirewalt’s endless attempts at regaining relevance know no bounds.”
