Ukraine’s First Lady has paid a visit to the White House, where she met with President Joe Biden

Olena Zelenska has travelled to Washington, where she met with U.S. President Biden and his wife, Jill Biden.

Zelenska embraced Jill Biden and received the flowers from the president.

Jill Biden has previously travelled to Ukraine, on a surprise visit to mark mother’s day.

“When I came back, one of the things that I said was, you cannot go into a war zone and come back and not feel the sorrow and the pain of the people.”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expected “significant results” from his wife’s meetings in Washington.

Olena was tasked with increasing U.S. support for Ukraine to “protect people from Russian terror”.

“I strongly believe it will be heard by those people responsible for making decisions in the United States”.

The First Lady also unveiled a humanitarian effort for children who have lost their limbs during the war. The scheme allows the children to travel to the U.S. for urgent emergency treatment.

Meanwhile, it’s understood the meeting also discussed mental health concerns for mothers and children who have suffered from the atrocities.

Russia maintains the war is a special military operation to protect its own security.
