Kyrie Irving has been fined $50,000 for making obscene gestures on court
The NBA says the Brooklyn Nets guard directed profane language to the stands in their first game of plays-offs.
The incident took place when the Celtics beat the Nets at the weekend 115-114.
The 30-year-old allegedly swore and raised his middle finger at the crowd who were booing him.
“I’m used to these antics and people being close nearby. It’s the same energy they have for me, I’m going to have the same energy for them.”

The Nets guard spent two years in Boston before leaving the team in 2019.
The controversial figure has defended his actions but says he understands it is a minority of fans.
Meanwhile, Power Forward Kevin Durant has also spoken out in support of his team-mate. He says fans can trigger playing to “react in the moment”.
The Nets will hope to even their best-of-seven series as they take on Boston in game two later this week.

Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen acknowledged that many Australians will find these projections distressing, but they underscore the urgency of addressing climate change.

Property Risks
Projected increases in heat-related deaths are particularly concerning. For instance, at a 1.5-degree rise in temperatures, heat-related mortality in Sydney could increase by 103%, reaching about 450 deaths annually at a 3-degree rise.
Coastal flooding days are expected to increase significantly in major urban areas, necessitating critical intervention.
