Australia closes Ukraine embassy, evacuates diplomats as Russian threat grows

Australia’s remaining diplomatic staff in the Ukrainian city of Lviv will leave and move to eastern Poland and Romania

The Australian embassy in Ukraine is now closed and all Aussies to leave the troubled nation as the threat that Russia could invade becomes more and more likely.

Australia’s Foreign Minister Marise Payne has confirmed “due to the increased risk” the Australian officials have been directed to depart the country amid rising concerns about armed conflict.”

A statement read that “Australia stands in solidarity with Ukraine and continues to call on Russia to cease and reverse its unprovoked assault on its democratic neighbour,”

The Australian government is now urging all remaining Australians to leave Ukraine immediately and “DO NOT DELAY”

Marise Payne is in Paris right now and she has pledged that Australia stands in solidarity with Ukraine at this time.

Australia, just like many other nations including the UK and US are urging Russia to stand down and to take a diplomatic path forward and to not invade its neighbour, Ukraine.

The Kremlin has been slammed by the UN council with representatives from around the world condemning recent announcements made by Putin.
