Ceasefire tensions rise

Upcoming peace talks in Pakistan are set for Saturday, featuring U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iran’s officials.

Iranian leaders expressed doubt regarding the viability of the ceasefire, citing Israel’s ongoing offensive against Hezbollah.

“The U.S. must choose – ceasefire or continued war via Israel,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated.

Both countries assert the ceasefire does not involve Lebanon, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirming that military operations will persist.

Vance remarked that Iran may have misunderstood the scope of the ceasefire.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire shortly before a deadline aimed at Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite both sides claiming victory in the ongoing conflict, key issues remain unaddressed.

Iran’s nuclear ambitions continue to create friction, with Trump stating Iran agreed to halt uranium enrichment, a claim contested by Iran.

Qalibaf asserted that Iran is still permitted to enrich uranium under the ceasefire terms.

Global stock markets surged as oil prices dropped significantly to around $95 per barrel, highlighting shifts in market dynamics.

Netanyahu stated that Israel is ready for renewed conflict if necessary, maintaining its stance on military readiness.

Reports indicate that Israeli strikes have led to substantial casualties in Lebanon, with civilian alerts not consistently issued.
